On Saturday, thousands of Microsoft 365 users reported issues with services such as Outlook. Microsoft acknowledged the problem through a series of posts on the social media platform X, stating that they were investigating the issue, which affected multiple Microsoft 365 services.

“We’ve identified a potential cause of impact and have reverted the suspected code to alleviate the issue,” the company said in the posts. These messages were shared on a page dedicated to addressing incidents related to its Office software.

By the afternoon, Microsoft updated that tracking showed most affected services were recovering after the change was made.

Some users had reported on social media that they were unable to access their Outlook email accounts. Downdetector, which monitors outages, confirmed a surge in reports from users. The outage reports for Microsoft 365 and Outlook peaked around 4 p.m. EST before tapering off, with many users noting their access was restored.

Earlier this week, the communication platform Slack also experienced an outage that left many users unable to access the service.
