Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is out of danger, according to police, after being injured in a stabbing incident during a scuffle with an intruder at his Mumbai home. Khan, 54, was undergoing surgery following the attack.

Khan, one of India’s top stars, is the son of former cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore. A senior police officer, Gedam Dixit, confirmed Khan was receiving treatment and was no longer in critical condition.

A hospital official, Niraj Uttamani, mentioned that Khan was undergoing surgery, and the full extent of the injuries would be clearer once the procedure was complete. A foreign object was reportedly found near Khan’s spine.

Khan, who has appeared in over 70 films and TV shows, lives in Bandra with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children. Khan’s representatives confirmed the surgery and assured that the rest of the family was unharmed.

A female staff member at their home was also attacked and is receiving medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the attacker.

Following the attack on Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, film celebrities and opposition leaders have urged the police to enhance security measures in Mumbai. Clyde Crasto, spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party, questioned the safety of ordinary citizens if even high-profile individuals with security can be attacked in their homes. He shared his concerns on social media.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies had recently won the elections in Maharashtra, where Mumbai is the capital.

Actor and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt also expressed concern, calling for more police presence, particularly in the Bandra suburb, which is home to many film industry personalities. She commented on social media that the city, especially Bandra, has never felt as unsafe as it does now.
