Honda is recalling approximately 206,000 SUVs in the U.S. due to a potential issue with the fuel filler neck, which could detach from the filler pipe during a crash. This malfunction increases the risk of gasoline leakage and a possible fire. The recall affects certain 2023 and 2024 Honda Passports, as well as some 2023 to 2025 Honda Pilots.

The problem arose from a flaw in the installation process, which caused an incomplete connection between the filler neck and the fuel pipe. Honda has received one warranty claim related to this issue but has reported no injuries between December 2018 and November 20 of this year. There have been no incidents of fires.

To address the issue, Honda will have dealers inspect the affected SUVs and ensure that the neck is properly connected to the fuel filler pipe. Owners will be notified by mail starting January 6.
