After Alexander Zverev’s loss in the Australian Open final on Sunday, a person in the crowd shouted out the names of two women who have accused the tennis player of physical abuse in the past, stating “Australia believes” them. This occurred while Zverev was standing at the microphone during the trophy ceremony, and the phrase was repeated three times. Some fans in the arena responded with boos and whistles.

Later, during his press conference, Zverev was asked about the interruption. He replied, “I believe there are no more accusations. There haven’t been for — what? — nine months now. … I think I’ve done everything I can, and I’m not about to open that subject again.”

In June, on the same day Zverev reached the French Open final, news emerged from Berlin that a district court had concluded a trial related to a domestic violence accusation from a 2020 argument between Zverev and his former partner. The case was resolved through an agreement between prosecutors and Zverev’s legal team.

Additionally, Zverev had denied accusations of assault from another woman, which led the ATP to conduct an investigation. In January 2023, the ATP concluded there was insufficient evidence to support the claims.
