New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells has a new passion—grading breakfast burritos. He recently launched an Instagram account dedicated to this tasty pursuit, where he evaluates burritos found in visiting clubhouses across the league.
By early Sunday, the account had already amassed over 53,000 followers, reflecting the growing interest in Wells’ flavorful quest.
During the Yankees’ first road series of the season, which wrapped up with a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Wells gave a shoutout to Pirates visiting clubhouse manager Kevin Conrad and his team, awarding their burritos a score of 73 out of 100.
Wells explained his unique rating system, saying, “I feel like everyone uses one out of 10, but I didn’t want to be like anybody else. I wanted to be different.”
When it comes to his ideal breakfast burrito, Wells keeps it simple yet satisfying. “I really love a chorizo burrito,” he shared. “A little crisp on the tortilla and just a lot of eggs. So, kind of simple with a good flavor.”
