There’s still time to make a little last- minute tweak to Spotify’s grasped music listening habits.
Recently there was a rumor on social media that Spotify will stop tracking users’ data after October 31st and therefore will not generate reports of Spotify Grabbed. This led many users to think that they should finish listening to their favorite songs etc. before 31st October, only then they will be included in the statistics. However, this rumor has been denied by Spotify. Spotify clarified through a special Halloween post on social media platforms such as Twitter that, “Spotify Grapped does not stop tracking data after October 31st.”
What is Spotify Grabbed? Every year around December, Spotify informs users of their top songs, artists, and podcasts of the year. In addition, it creates a playlist of the users’ 100 most listened songs. It also includes fun facts like whether users are in the top 1% of Taylor Swift listeners or what their music tastes are. The initiative, which has been running since 2016, aggregates a summary of Spotify users’ most- listened- to songs, artists and musical genres and presents them in an engaging visual format.
Over the past few years, Spotify has moved up the release date of Grabbed even further. Graped was launched on November 29 in 2023, November 30 in 2022, December 1 in 2021 and 2020, December 5 in 2019, and December 6 in 2018. So, it can be said that Spotify Grapped is launched in late November or early December every year.
Releasing Grapped ahead of the December end date has left users wondering when Spotify will stop collecting listening data. In 2023, Spotify clarified that data tracking would continue until October 31st, but there has been no official announcement this year. However, Spotify has clarified that the listening statistics will be taken for the year and will only be reported in early December.
Apple has also adopted this initiative from 2019. Their ‘Apple Music Replay’ initiative also shares summaries of users’ music listening habits every year. Starting this year, Apple also began displaying monthly replays of users at the end of the month, highlighting their music habits for the month.
Spotify users will be able to see the overview of their favorite songs from the last week of November to the beginning of December, but note that there should be no pending updates in the app, otherwise they may have trouble viewing this report.
This year’s Spotify Group hasn’t been announced yet, but is expected to arrive in late November or early December. So continue your listening session, and enjoy your favorite songs.
