Vince McMahon, former CEO of WWE, has been accused of causing a car crash last Thursday on a Connecticut highway that damaged three vehicles, including his luxury Bentley. The incident took place just hours before news broke of Hulk Hogan’s death — a wrestler McMahon had publicly praised.

According to a report from Connecticut state police, McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely after the crash on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. No injuries were reported. He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26.

Representatives for McMahon have not responded to media inquiries. TMZ was the first outlet to report the crash.

Barbara Doran, one of the drivers involved, took photographs at the scene showing significant damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed as it was being loaded onto a tow truck. Her BMW 430 also sustained visible rear-end damage.

According to the police report, McMahon was traveling northbound when he struck Doran’s BMW from behind and then collided with a wooden guardrail. The impact sent debris flying into the southbound lanes, where it struck a third vehicle.

All three drivers were alone in their vehicles and wearing seat belts. McMahon’s air bags deployed, though Doran said the ones in her car did not.

Doran, who lives in New York City, recalled the moment of the crash: “I was driving along in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward. You can see the skid marks where I was trying desperately to stay on the road.”

She said she didn’t recognize McMahon at first but was told by a state trooper that he was the other driver. The two spoke briefly after the incident. “He just expressed concern and was glad I was OK. I thanked him for his concern,” said Doran, 72.

McMahon’s legal troubles come on top of other ongoing issues. He stepped down as WWE’s CEO in 2022 during an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He later resigned from his role as executive chairman of the board for TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, after being named in a lawsuit by a former employee. McMahon has denied all allegations, and the legal case is still active.

Since purchasing the then-named World Wrestling Federation in 1982, McMahon played a key role in turning it into a global entertainment powerhouse. He often appeared on-screen at WWE events alongside his wife Linda, who later served as the U.S. Secretary of Education.
