Ursula Haverbeck, a German far-right activist repeatedly convicted for Holocaust denial, has died at the age of 96

Ursula Haverbeck, a prominent far-right activist from Germany, has passed away at the age of 96. She died on Wednesday, with her lawyer, Wolfram Nahrath, confirming the news on Thursday.

Haverbeck was notorious for her repeated denial of the Holocaust, often claiming that Auschwitz was merely a labor camp, despite historical evidence showing that over 1.1 million Jews were murdered there by the Nazis.

Her legal troubles began in 2004 when she was first convicted and fined for Holocaust denial. She faced numerous additional convictions for incitement over the years, some of which resulted in prison sentences. One such sentence saw her imprisoned for more than two years in Bielefeld from 2018 to 2020.

In 2019, Haverbeck was chosen by the far-right political group, The Right, to be a candidate in the European Parliament elections.

Most recently, in June, she was convicted of incitement for comments about Auschwitz and sentenced to a year and four months in prison. She appealed that verdict.
