United Regional Jet slides off taxiway at an icy St. Louis Lambert Airport

A plane carrying 27 passengers, including crew, slid off the taxiway and came to a stop at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) late Wednesday morning, as per a statement from the airport.

The United Regional Jet, operated by GoJet Airlines and departing from Washington Dulles International Airport, veered into a grassy area just before 11 a.m. after landing on Runway 11-29, the statement said.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Passengers were quickly transported to the airport terminal by bus.

While no official reports have been released as of Wednesday evening, GoJet Airlines spokesperson Elizabeth Dray mentioned that “weather conditions, particularly icy taxiways, were likely the cause.”

All scheduled flights have been rebooked, and passengers have been reassigned to another aircraft, according to the release.

The Federal Aviation Administration has announced that it will investigate the incident.
