President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has selected Kimberly Guilfoyle, former Fox News host, as his nominee for ambassador to Greece. Guilfoyle, who has been a loyal supporter of Trump and campaigned alongside him, is also in a relationship with his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
Trump praised Guilfoyle on social media, calling her a “close friend and ally” for many years. He emphasized her vast experience in law, media, and politics, as well as her sharp intellect, making her well-qualified to represent the United States and protect its interests abroad.
Guilfoyle, who spent over a decade at Fox News and co-hosted “The Five,” also has a background as a prosecutor. She expressed her gratitude for the nomination in a post on X, stating she was “honored” to accept the role.
Kimberly Guilfoyle is the latest person with strong connections to the Trump family to be appointed to a position in Donald Trump’s second administration. The president-elect also nominated Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, as ambassador to France. Additionally, Trump selected Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of his daughter Tiffany Trump, for a role in the administration. During Trump’s first term, both Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, his daughter, held prominent positions in the administration.
Kimberly Guilfoyle was subpoenaed and testified before the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, when a mob of Trump supporters tried to overturn the 2020 election results. According to the committee’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., Guilfoyle was present at the White House on the day of the attack.
Kimberly Guilfoyle was previously married to Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, but they divorced in 2006. More recently, she became engaged to Donald Trump Jr.
