Tesla recalling almost 700,000 vehicles due to tire pressure monitoring system issue

Tesla is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system’s warning light. The recall affects certain 2024 Cybertruck models, as well as 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles. The issue is that the warning light for low tire pressure may not stay on consistently between driving cycles, meaning drivers may not be alerted if their tire pressure is low. Driving with underinflated tires can increase the likelihood of a crash. To resolve the problem, Tesla is offering a free software update to affected vehicle owners.

Tesla plans to send owner notification letters on February 15, 2025. For further details, Tesla customers can contact their customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Additionally, individuals can reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Tesla has faced multiple recalls this year, with the Cybertruck now having its seventh recall. One of the recent recalls, which occurred last month, affected approximately 2,400 vehicles.

In November 2023, Tesla, led by Elon Musk, delivered the first batch of its highly anticipated Cybertruck pickups, marking a two-year delay from the original timeline. Earlier this year, in July, Tesla recalled over 1.8 million vehicles due to a hood issue that could raise the risk of a crash. Additionally, in February, nearly 2.2 million U.S. vehicles were recalled because some of the warning lights on the instrument panel were too small to be easily seen.
