The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences revealed the winners on Tuesday across various categories. The 29th annual ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 12 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
Snoop Dogg received the Webby Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his successful ventures as a businessman, which include Death Row Records and several other brands such as two alcohol labels, an ice cream line, and a cannabis company. Walton Goggins was recognized with the Best Actor Award for his roles in streaming projects like The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones, and Fallout.
The ceremony will be hosted by comedian and actress Ilana Glazer and will honor major platforms and brands such as Nike, Netflix, Letterboxd, and Apple. Dr. Fei-Fei Li, a leader in the field of artificial intelligence, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to AI, particularly in the realm of human-centered technology.
Jesse Feister, executive director of Webby Media Group, expressed that this year’s winners represent a “masterclass of creativity and innovation,” showcasing how the internet can drive change, spark conversations, and connect people in new ways. In line with evolving technology, the Webby Awards have expanded from honoring websites to including apps, software, social media platforms, and games.
Google earned its first-ever Brand of the Year recognition, and NBCUniversal was named the best media company. Additional special achievement awards went to individuals such as Amelia Dimoldenberg, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Jools Lebron, Marcello Hernández, the MeidasTouch Podcast, and Norman Teague.
Other notable winners included Lady Gaga for her website, Mariah Carey’s “It’s Time” collaboration with KAY Jewelers, RuPaul’s Drag Race: The Pit Stop, Lamar’s Not Like Us music video, and Brian Cox’s Brian Cox Goes to College. Mission-driven organizations like the Elton John AIDS Foundation, National Immigration Law Center, and the Whitney Museum of American Art also received recognition.
This year saw the introduction of new categories, highlighting the growing influence of creators. Winners in this area included Zach King, Caleb Simpson, and Jameis Winston.
