Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Slide Ends with Browns Selection
After much anticipation, Shedeur Sanders is officially headed to the NFL. The Cleveland Browns selected the former Colorado quarterback — and son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders — in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, using the 144th overall pick to bring him on board.
Sanders, one of the most talked-about prospects in this year’s draft, had an unexpected drop in the rankings. Widely seen as one of the top quarterbacks available — second only to Miami’s Cam Ward in most pre-draft projections — Sanders watched as five other quarterbacks were selected before him. That included another pick by the Browns themselves, who took Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
Despite the surprising wait, Sanders’ NFL journey is now underway with Cleveland, where he’ll look to prove his talent on the professional stage.
