Famous American snowboarding Olympic champion Shaun White added another special moment to his list of gold medals when he surprised actress Nina Dobrev with a proposal. The famous couple announced their engagement on their Instagram page on Wednesday. Dobrev posted a photo of the two embracing under a flower- decorated arch and also showed off her five- carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring.
“Boyfriend, goodbye. Hello, fiancée!” Dobrev gave a funny caption.
Only half of the romantic moment was visible in the photo, but fans were in awe of how White planned it. In an interview with Vogue, White said that he had prepared a special surprise for Dobrev, involving his friends and some of the Vogue staff.
White had her publicist say that she had invited Dobrev to a dinner party with Anna Wintour in a fake invitation. The event was to be held at New York’s ‘Golden Swan’. Her stylist made her wear a special Chanel dress for this special occasion.
Dobrev said that when she arrived at the venue and saw White standing under a flower- decorated arch, she knew what was going on. “I was literally shocked,” Dobrev said with a laugh. She added that White used all the right words when he proposed to her, which won her over and she happily agreed.
After White’s romantic moment, the two celebrated late into the night with friends and family.
“Best night of my life,” White wrote in his Instagram story.
The couple have been in a relationship since 2020 and have shared photos on social media of their travels, trips around the world, and White’s Olympic career farewell.
