Well- known South Korean sharpshooter Kim Ye- ji, who captured the attention of the Internet with her effortless shooting style and unique “aura”, now shines in a new campaign for famous fashion brand Balenciaga.
Kim, 32, who won a silver medal at the Olympics, appears in the campaign alongside Romeo Beckham and singer Kim Petras. The campaign was shot in various locations in Paris, where the models are seen posing in semi- standing positions or with chairs and sofas in the open. Interestingly, the furniture is from the private collection of Demna, Balenciaga’s creative director, the press release said.
The campaign “This is a Balenciaga Campaign” is photographed by Juergen Taylor. Taylor’s famous and sometimes controversial approach to deadpan photography is very much in line with Kim’s personality. At this year’s Paris Olympics, Kim’s relaxed shooting style and futuristic design spectacles wowed the audience. Before that, the video of him easily breaking the world record in Azerbaijan became very popular on the internet.
After the Olympics, Kim worked on several fashion and acting projects. His photo shoot for Louis Vuitton appeared in W Korea magazine, and he played a murderer in the TV series “Crush”.
In the Balenciaga campaign, Kim replaces her famous black Fila jacket with a denim bomber jacket and thigh- high cut- off jeans or a black mini dress. “I always dress very plain. But people say I look good,” Kim said.
The campaign is jointly created by Jürgen Taylor and his wife and partner Deauville Drijte. The campaign sees Romeo Beckham posing on a white sectional sofa against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, while Kim Petras poses on a blue floral print chair. Models Suya Lee, Khadim Sok and Akold Meen are also spotted with them. In September, Romeo Beckham surprised audiences by modeling on the ramp for Balenciaga in Paris for the first time.
