Selena Gomez is known for her timeless Old Hollywood style, often impressing during award season with her chic retro-inspired outfits. At the Oscars on Sunday, the “Emilia Perez” actress showcased another stunning look, stepping onto the red carpet in a custom Ralph Lauren gown. The off-the-shoulder dress featured a remarkable detail: over 16,000 glass drops and hand-sewn Rosemont crystals, arranged in a lattice pattern. A team of 12 Italian artisans worked on the dress, carefully airbrushing the glass to create a pink ombré effect that sparkled with every movement.

Gomez completed her ensemble with a soft peachy nude lip, a wavy bob hairstyle, and a sparkling diamond choker and drop earrings. Her stylist, Erin Walsh, shared that their inspiration for the look came from classic “movie star magic,” with Sophia Loren serving as a key muse. They even consulted with the legendary actress’s former tailor when planning the dress.

At the star-studded event at LA’s Dolby Theatre, several celebrities dazzled on the red carpet with gowns adorned in sparkling embellishments. During the Academy’s “James Bond” tribute performance, Doja Cat shone in a custom Swarovski gown made with over one million crystals. Lily-Rose Depp stunned in a plunging black halter dress by Chanel, intricately embroidered with about 191,000 elements, including black sequins, crystals, and pearls. Ariana Grande also made a statement in a Schiaparelli gown from the Spring-Summer 2025 Haute Couture runway, featuring over 190,000 crystal sequins, rhinestones, and cut beads.

Blush pink gowns were also a prominent trend on the carpet that night.

Selena Gomez arrived at the award show with her fiancé, Benny Blanco, before co-presenting the Best Documentary Short Film and Best Documentary Feature categories alongside Samuel L. Jackson. Her film Emilia Perez earned 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, but ultimately took home two awards—Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña and Best Original Song for “El Mal.”

Gomez has consistently been recognized as one of the best-dressed stars of the 2025 awards season. Just a week ago, she wowed in a romantic Celine gown at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and at January’s Golden Globes, she described her light blue Prada gown as “Cinderella meets Jackie O.”
