Rapper Sean Kingston is set to be sentenced in South Florida on Friday following his conviction in a $1 million fraud case. Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, along with his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were found guilty by a federal jury in March on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Last month, U.S. Judge David Leibowitz sentenced Turner to five years in prison, but Kingston’s sentencing was postponed.

Kingston, 35, and his mother were arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in a Fort Lauderdale suburb. Turner was arrested during the raid, while Kingston was taken into custody at Fort Irwin, an Army training facility in California’s Mojave Desert, where he was performing at the time.

Court documents reveal that from April 2023 to March 2024, Kingston used social media to arrange purchases of luxury items. After negotiating deals, he invited sellers to one of his upscale Florida properties, promising to promote them and their products on social media.

However, when it was time to pay, Kingston or his mother sent fake wire transfer receipts to the sellers for high-end merchandise, which included a bulletproof Escalade, watches, and a large 19-foot LED TV. When the payments never cleared, many victims repeatedly reached out to Kingston and Turner but were either left unpaid or only received funds after pursuing legal action or involving law enforcement.

Kingston, originally from Florida and raised in Jamaica, gained fame at 17 with his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” which sampled Ben E. King’s classic “Stand By Me.” Other popular tracks from him include “Take You There” (2007) and “Fire Burning” (2009).
