Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. will not feature in his team’s upcoming Champions League match against Liverpool due to a hamstring injury. The Brazilian forward played the full 90 minutes in Real Madrid’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Leganes on Sunday.
Real Madrid, currently ranked 18th in the 36-team Champions League standings, will travel to Anfield on Wednesday to face top-ranked Liverpool. For the trip to Merseyside, the club has named a 19-man squad, but Vinicius Jr. is absent due to an injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Vinicius Jr. could be out for about three weeks due to his injury, although Real Madrid has not confirmed the exact extent of the problem.
After the club’s announcement, Vinicius Jr. posted on X, saying, “Crazy calendar. Time to recover.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool may be without defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for their upcoming match against Real Madrid at Anfield. The England right-back missed Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton due to a hamstring injury he picked up before the international break.
