Pura Scents is recalling more than 850,000 of its smart home fragrance diffusers over concerns that small magnets inside the product may detach, posing a serious risk if swallowed by children.

The recall involves approximately 851,400 units of the Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffuser with detachable covers sold in the United States, along with an additional 1,100 units sold in Canada. According to the company, the magnets located inside the product’s cover can come loose. If swallowed, these high-powered magnets may attract each other or other metallic objects inside the digestive tract, which can lead to life-threatening injuries such as intestinal blockages, perforations, infections, and even death.

So far, Pura Scents has received three reports of the magnets detaching, but no injuries have been reported.

These diffusers were available for purchase from August 2023 to May 2025, sold at retailers such as Target, Scheels, and others nationwide for around $50. The devices were also sold online through Pura’s official website, as well as on Amazon, Target.com, and Scheels.com.

As a safety measure, the company is offering customers a free replacement cover. Consumers are urged to immediately discard the current detachable cover and to keep the device out of reach of children and pets.

To request the replacement, consumers can contact Pura Scents at 855-394-5292 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time), email the company at replacement@pura.com, or visit their website and click on the “Recall” link at the bottom of the page for more information.
