Pope Francis, 88, has injured his right arm after falling at the Casa Santa Marta, his residence, but fortunately, no fractures were reported. The Vatican’s press office stated that the pope suffered a contusion to his right forearm and that his arm has been immobilized as a precaution.

Despite the injury, the pope continued with his scheduled meetings, including five on Thursday, such as one with Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and with priests from an Argentine college in Rome. Official photos showed the pope wearing a sling while attending these engagements.

Earlier in the week, the pope appeared in good spirits during his general audience and even played with a dog at a circus performance. This marks his second fall in recent weeks; in December, he had a bruise on his chin after tripping and hitting a bedside table.

Since 2022, the pope has used a wheelchair due to knee pain, but in his autobiography, “Hope,” he expressed that he remains in good health and has no intention of resigning. He acknowledged his aging body, saying that old age must be accepted, though he continues to carry out his duties, aided by physiotherapy and a walking stick.
