The popular Goldfish crackers are getting a temporary name change to Chilean Sea Bass Crackers, as announced by the brand on Wednesday. This shift aims to broaden their appeal to adult snackers, particularly targeting Millennials and Gen Z.
Goldfish Vice President Danielle Brown stated in a news release, “We recognize that Goldfish is loved by people of all ages. The name Chilean Sea Bass playfully suggests that this iconic fish-shaped snack is suitable for adult tastes as well.”
Fans can buy two bags of the Chilean Sea Bass crackers for $7.38 at ChileanSeaBassCrackers.com, while supplies last. The company also hinted at additional inventory releases until October 30.
The Brand has previously sought to attract adult snackers.
The brand has been working to attract adult consumers with its recent limited-edition flavors. One notable option is the Goldfish OLD BAY Seasoned Crackers, which combine 18 herbs and spices to create a zesty topping for seafood and other dishes.
In 2021, the brand launched Goldfish Frank’s RedHot Crackers in collaboration with Pepperidge Farm. This snack features the classic ingredients of hot sauce, including vinegar and aged cayenne peppers.
Campbell Snacks’ chief marketing officer, Janda Lukin, stated that hot and spicy was the most requested flavor for Goldfish. She noted that this flavor is designed for an older, more mature audience who enjoys a bit of heat.
