During a recent routine physical exam, doctors found a small nodule in President Joe Biden’s prostate. His team shared a brief update saying the finding “needed more evaluation.” It’s still unclear if that follow-up has already happened or what the results were.
Prostate nodules aren’t uncommon but usually require further testing by a urologist to rule out prostate cancer. These growths can be caused by cancer, but also by less serious issues like swelling or an enlarged prostate.
Biden, now 82, has faced ongoing scrutiny about his health and age — especially after a poor debate performance last June. That moment sparked calls from some Democratic leaders urging him to step aside from the 2024 race.
Still, Biden has dismissed those concerns. Just last week, he said the wider Democratic Party wasn’t worried about his age and blamed criticism on a few top leaders and big donors.
Donald Trump, his likely opponent, has frequently questioned Biden’s mental and physical fitness throughout the campaign.
This isn’t Biden’s first health issue. In early 2023, he had a small skin cancer spot removed from his chest, and back in 2021, doctors removed a non-cancerous but potentially risky polyp from his colon.
