Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn has expressed concern over the lack of communication from the club regarding a new contract offer. The Scotland international’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, but according to Gunn, no discussions have taken place yet about a renewal.
“I haven’t heard anything from the club, which is worrying,” Gunn said when asked about his future at Norwich. “I get asked about it often, but honestly, I can’t provide an answer because there’s been no communication.”
Gunn, who has been sidelined for the past two games due to a hamstring injury and won’t be joining the Scotland national team, expressed hope that contract talks would take place in the coming weeks.
“I just hope for some clarity, really,” he added. “I have a family to think about, and I need to plan for the future. As a professional, the most important thing is to have that clarity about where you’re going to be.”
The 29-year-old, whose father is Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, remains open to staying at the club. Gunn joined Norwich from Southampton in June 2021, after spending the 2017-18 season on loan with them from Manchester City. Over his two spells with the club, he has made 166 appearances and kept 44 clean sheets.
“If the opportunity arises and they want to talk, I’d be open to having that conversation,” he said. “It’s my hometown club, the club I support, and it’s a dream come true to play at Carrow Road. I owe a lot to Norwich and to the people here who have played a big role in my career.”
