Nintendo recently revealed its much-anticipated new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the successor to the original Nintendo Switch. The company confirmed that the Switch 2 will be released in 2025, ending years of speculation following rumors about its release.

In a promotional video, Nintendo showcased a larger version of the Switch that retains a similar design to its predecessor. However, there are some changes, including the redesigned controllers, or Joy-Cons, which now attach to the main unit on the sides rather than sliding in.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature exclusive games made specifically for the console, along with the ability to play both physical and digital games from the original Nintendo Switch. However, some older Nintendo Switch games may not be fully compatible with the new system.

While the company did not provide many details about the console or a specific release date, it mentioned that more information would be revealed during its April Nintendo Direct event. Additionally, Nintendo plans to hold “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience” events in cities like Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris, starting in April. These events will offer players the chance to experience the new system firsthand, with ticket registration beginning on Friday.
