Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner delivered one of his standout performances of the season on Saturday, but his thoughts were focused on something other than basketball.

Just hours after his sister, Mya, was stretchered off the court during pregame warmups, Turner assured reporters that she was doing fine, though he declined to answer any further questions.

“Obviously, you know he’s been dealing with a lot, so it was great to see him perform the way he did,” said Tyrese Haliburton. “We’ve built a great partnership both on and off the floor, and when we play the right way, good things happen.”

And good things did happen for the Pacers, Turner, and Haliburton, who had missed the previous three games due to a back injury, in their 108-103 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Turner finished with 22 points, five 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and three blocks in the Pacers’ fourth straight victory. Haliburton recorded his career-high 10th consecutive double-double, posting 16 points and 12 rebounds. He was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double.

However, that performance on the court was overshadowed by events before the game. Team officials confirmed that Turner’s sister experienced a “medical situation” and was being assessed and treated. The Turner family often visits Indianapolis in late March to celebrate Myles’ birthday, which falls on Monday, and Mya is one of his biggest supporters.

On this occasion, the family was sitting courtside near the baseline when medical personnel were called to assist. While the exact details of the situation remain unclear, Turner made his way down the court to embrace his sister before she was carefully placed onto a stretcher and wheeled to the other end of the court. She appeared alert and conscious.

The best news came when Turner shared that his sister was fine.
