Soccer player Moise Kean, who plays for Fiorentina and the Italian national team, has been released from the hospital after collapsing on the field due to a head injury on Sunday.
The 24-year-old striker was in the 64th minute of Fiorentina’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona when he began to appear unsteady. Moments later, he collapsed, prompting medical staff to quickly rush to his aid.
Kean was then stretchered off the pitch and transported to a hospital in Verona for further care.
ACF Fiorentina confirmed on Monday that Moise Kean was discharged from the hospital in Verona overnight and has returned to Florence.
The team statement also noted that all medical and diagnostic tests came back clear.
Before collapsing, Kean had accidentally collided with an opposing player. Replays showed that his head struck the knee of the opponent as he fell after a challenge. Kean was treated for a few minutes before briefly returning to the pitch. However, he collapsed again shortly after rejoining the game.
Kean is currently Fiorentina’s top scorer in the league, with 15 goals, making him second in Serie A. His performances have helped the team reach sixth place in the standings.
The 24-year-old, once regarded as one of the most talented young players in the world, has played for top clubs like PSG, Juventus, and Everton. He has also earned 19 caps for Italy, scoring five goals for the national team.
Kean is the second Fiorentina player to collapse during a match this season. In December, midfielder Edoardo Bove experienced a medical emergency during a game against Inter Milan. Bove lost consciousness and was quickly taken to intensive care, where he was later fitted with a heart defibrillator.
