Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk has been appointed as the new running backs coach for the University of Colorado, marking the third Hall of Famer to join the Buffaloes’ coaching staff, which is led by head coach Deion Sanders. The university made the announcement on Thursday. It’s unclear whether Faulk has previous coaching experience, but his football background is extensive. He played running back at San Diego State before achieving NFL stardom with the Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams.

Faulk will be part of Sanders’ coaching team, which also includes Sanders himself, a Hall of Famer, and Warren Sapp, a graduate assistant and fellow Hall of Famer. Both Faulk and Sanders were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Marshall Faulk, 51, is regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history and was part of the Super Bowl-winning St. Louis Rams team 25 years ago. He was selected as the second overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft and was named the NFL MVP in 2000.

Following his retirement from football in 2006, Faulk worked as an analyst for the NFL Network. However, he parted ways with the network after being named in a lawsuit that accused him of sexual harassment and groping a wardrobe stylist. The lawsuit, which also involved other NFL Network personalities, including Warren Sapp, was settled out of court in 2018.

Recently, Marshall Faulk had been working in the financial industry, outside of football, according to public records. Now, as the new running backs coach at the University of Colorado, he will be tasked with improving the team’s running game, which ranked last in the nation for rushing yards per game in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
