Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola condemned Manchester United fans for chanting offensive remarks about Phil Foden’s mother during the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Guardiola described the chants as “a lack of class,” adding, “It’s not Manchester United, it’s the people. It’s a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.” He also pointed out that such behavior isn’t limited to the UK but happens worldwide.

The Manchester derby is known for its intense rivalry, but Guardiola felt the fans crossed a line by targeting Foden’s mother. “We are so exposed—managers, owners, and players. Honestly, I don’t understand what’s in the minds of people to involve Phil’s mum,” he said.

Foden had a quiet performance in the derby, continuing a challenging season where he’s gone 13 games without scoring. Despite this, Guardiola stood by his player.

“When the team isn’t playing at the level we expect, it feels like everyone is underperforming. But I see Phil’s passion and smile every day in training, and that’s what matters,” Guardiola said. “His impact has been incredible, and he will be back.”
