Aidan Hutchinson’s Injury During Lions-Cowboys Game

During the third quarter of the Lions’ game against the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field. The injury occurred after Hutchinson sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during a second-down play, when his left leg appeared to collide with that of a teammate.

The Fox broadcast chose not to show a replay of Aidan Hutchinson’s injury, labeling it as too gruesome. He remained on the field for several minutes before being carted off, with players from both teams surrounding him as he was taken to the locker room.

Lions coach Dan Campbell announced that Aidan Hutchinson had immediate surgery for a fractured tibia at a hospital in the Dallas area. Before the injury, Hutchinson was leading the NFL in sacks with 6½. The Lions selected him second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he recorded 21 sacks in his first two seasons with the team.

Aidan Hutchinson’s sister is requesting prayers

Mia shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram story on October 13, asking everyone to “Please pray for Aidan,” alongside a photo of them together. She also included a video clip of Lions coach Dan Campbell discussing Hutchinson’s injury during the postgame press conference.

In that press conference, Campbell addressed questions about Hutchinson’s condition, confirming that he had undergone surgery for a broken tibia. “Hate it for Hutch. That’s tough,” he remarked. He expressed concern for Hutchinson, saying, “He’s in good hands right now. He’ll be staying here and obviously will be out for a while, which is hard when you lose someone like him. We’ll know more after this and wish him the best.”

Before his injury in the game against the Cowboys, Hutchinson had three tackles, a sack, and three quarterback hits, bringing his total to 7.5 sacks for the season.
