Explosions were reported near the port area of Karachi in southern Pakistan amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Indian Navy sources confirmed that the Western Naval Command has mobilised key assets, including the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and destroyers like INS Visakhapatnam, in the Arabian Sea. INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, was commissioned in 2022.

India’s Army, Air Force, and Navy have all been activated in response to what officials describe as unprovoked Pakistani aggression. Earlier, Indian forces successfully intercepted eight missiles aimed at Jammu and Kashmir and 30 more over Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer region. Multiple Pakistani drones have also been neutralised along India’s border areas.

In a strong counter-offensive, India carried out drone strikes targeting Lahore, reportedly disabling parts of Pakistan’s air defence systems. Additional strikes were reported in Karachi and Gujranwala.

Amid heightened military tensions, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has implemented stricter measures at all airports. Passengers must now undergo additional checks at boarding gates, visitor entry has been restricted, and Air Marshals will be deployed for enhanced vigilance, according to sources in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that India’s retaliatory operations were “measured, precise, and non-escalatory,” aimed strictly at neutralising terrorist threats. The latest escalation follows the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed by the Pakistan-backed terror group, The Resistance Front.

In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan’s attempted strikes on Indian military bases since then have largely failed due to India’s advanced defence preparedness.
