Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is sharing details from his recent proposal. Just two weeks after he proposed to Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld on the beach, Allen opened up about their special day in an interview with his new fiancée. In Steinfeld’s latest “Beau Society” newsletter, Allen recalled a funny moment from the morning of the proposal. “The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch,” Allen shared. “You jumped on the bed and asked, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are we waiting for??!'” Allen laughed, explaining he responded, “Just give me a little more time.” He revealed that Steinfeld had no idea that he was about to propose.
While Steinfeld, 27, was close to guessing what was happening, Allen, 28, said she was still “extremely surprised” by the proposal. He added, “I didn’t mess it up, and neither did anyone else.”
Allen admitted that his biggest fear was Steinfeld discovering the proposal plans. “It was tough keeping secrets from you and having others do the same,” he said. He also shared that throughout the day, certain songs would play, making him emotional as he thought about how special the moment would be.
Allen and Steinfeld shared their engagement news in a joint Instagram post last week. The photo from the proposal shows Allen kneeling in front of a pink floral arch, with Steinfeld leaning down to rest her forehead against his. The romantic scene was surrounded by candles, with the ocean in the background.
When Allen got down on one knee, he told Steinfeld, “I couldn’t wait any longer. I can’t wait to start a family with you.” He then said her full name, asking her, “Please,” in a gentle manner.
He added, “You said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was shining.”
Allen and Steinfeld made their relationship public on Instagram in July, following over a year of speculation. In the post, Allen shared multiple photos with Steinfeld, including one of them together near the Eiffel Tower, taken ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
