Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, following a rear-end collision. He faces charges for driving under the influence and possessing a firearm, among others. The Franklin Police Department reported that officers noticed the smell of alcohol on Cutler, who had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech when they arrived at the scene. Cutler declined to undergo a field sobriety test and was later transported to a hospital, where a blood sample was taken after police obtained a search warrant.
The police report indicated that Jay Cutler tried to leave the scene after offering the other driver $2,000 to refrain from contacting law enforcement. The investigation revealed that Cutler had two firearms in his vehicle, one of which was a loaded pistol. As a result, he was charged with DUI (first offense), failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent violations, and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
Franklin police reported that the 41-year-old Jay Cutler was booked into the Williamson County Jail, where his bond was set at $5,000; he has since been released.
