After being elected President, Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had Dr. U.S. by Janet Neshiwat. Selected as Surgeon General. Dr. Nesheiwat is a Fox News medical contributor.
“Dr. Nesheiwat is an effective advocate and competent communicator for preventive medicine and public health,” Trump said in his statement. “They want to encourage Americans to have access to affordable, quality health care, and inspire Americans to take charge of their own health and live longer, healthier lives.”
Along with Nesheiwat’s selection, Trump also announced appointments for other key positions. Among the announcements were Treasury Secretary Scott Bassent, Rep. Laurie Chavez- DeRemer (R- Ore.) as Labor Secretary, Russ Vaught as Office and Budget Management Director, Scott Turner as Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Marty Macari as Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, and Dave Weldon as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Appointed as Prevention Director.
Dr. Neshiwat graduated from the University of South Florida and completed his medical residency at the Arkansas Medical Center. He has also completed ER rotations through Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Nesheiwat is the author of the book “Beyond the Stethoscope: Miracles in Medicine”. In this book, he shares stories of miraculous healings, experiences in the ER, and inspiring examples of the power of prayer and faithful service from global health campaigns.
Currently Dr. Nesheiwat serves as medical director at CityMD, an urgent care network in New York and New Jersey. Earlier, he also provided medical services at Washington Regional Medical Center and Northwest Medical Hospital.
Dr. Nesheiwat has contributed medical news for Fox News and hosted the educational programs “Family Health Today” as well as “Health Minute with Dr. Janet.” Fox News said she will step down from her current position as of Friday.
Dr. Nesheiwat has provided direct medical care to American citizens following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the Joplin tornado, Trump’s statement said.
