The Jacksonville Jaguars have parted ways with Doug Pederson after three seasons as their head coach. Pederson, who joined the team in 2022, had initially helped improve the team’s performance, leading them to a 9-8 record in his first two years and securing a playoff victory. However, this season the Jaguars struggled, finishing with a 4-13 record, which led to his dismissal.

Team owner Shahid Khan expressed his appreciation for Pederson’s accomplishments, stating that Pederson is a skilled football professional who will continue to enjoy a successful career. Khan emphasized his responsibility to the team and its fans, stating that it was time for new leadership to bring the team back to success.

Pederson, who had previously led the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in 2018, was the fifth permanent head coach for the Jaguars since Khan took over the team in 2012. The team also recently signed quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a significant five-year, $275 million contract extension, though Lawrence struggled with injuries this season.

In addition, the Jaguars have agreed to a $1.4 billion deal to renovate their stadium. They have been playing annual games in London since 2013 and could continue to play international games while the stadium is being upgraded.

Khan remains optimistic about the future, believing that the Jaguars can restore their winning environment next season. He is now focused on finding a new head coach who shares his vision and is ready to take advantage of the opportunities the team offers in Jacksonville.
