A 4-year-old blonde whippet from Italy, named Miuccia, took home the top prize at Crufts, the world’s largest dog show, on Sunday. With her soulful eyes and striking tiger-like markings, Miuccia made history as the first Italian dog to win the prestigious Best in Show title at the event held in Birmingham, England. Her handler, Giovanni Liguori, was left deeply moved by the achievement.
“It’s truly a dream come true, I’m completely overwhelmed. Miuccia gave her best performance, and I could feel she was very relaxed on the leash, so I’m extremely happy,” Liguori shared with British broadcaster Channel 4 after the win.
“I adore her completely, she’s wonderful, the sweetest dog, and she always wants to be close to me, which means the most. It’s unbelievable, amazing, and as Italians, we are so proud.”
