Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar lost control of his car during the formation lap at the Australian Grand Prix. The French driver slid into a barrier at turn two, ending his race before it even began on Sunday.

At 20 years old, Hadjar had shown promise over the weekend, but was one of the least experienced rookies on the F1 grid, with fewer than 500 laps in a Grand Prix car before the race.

The race will continue with 19 drivers, as the cars are set to return to the grid for a second formation lap, scheduled for 3:15 pm local time (0415 GMT).

Intermittent rain and strong winds are expected to affect the race conditions.
