Goran Ivanisevic’s short-term role as coach of 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina has ended following her elimination from the Australian Open.
Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon himself in 2001, shared a brief message on social media Tuesday, saying, “After our trial period that finished with the Australian Open, I wish Elena and her team the best of luck moving forward.”
Rybakina, seeded sixth, was ousted in the fourth round by Madison Keys on Monday. She had been a finalist at the Australian Open two years ago.
Rybakina’s coaching situation has been complicated. Just before the U.S. Open last year, she parted ways with her longtime coach, Stefano Vukov, and brought Ivanisevic on board. However, before the Australian Open, Rybakina announced that Vukov would rejoin her team. The WTA Tour also confirmed that Vukov was provisionally suspended “pending an independent investigation into a potential breach of the WTA code of conduct.”
Ivanisevic previously coached Novak Djokovic to twelve Grand Slam titles before their split in March 2024.
