The cast of the 1985 adventure film The Goonies reunited on Monday to celebrate Ke Huy Quan’s success at a hand-and-footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Corey Feldman, and screenwriter Chris Columbus were all present to honor Quan, whose career took a remarkable turn after a nearly 20-year break from acting. Quan’s return to the spotlight came with his award-winning performance in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, where he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

During the ceremony, Brolin read a heartfelt letter from The Goonies executive producer Steven Spielberg, who praised Quan’s “meteoric rise” as both a child actor and, later, as an adult. Brolin reflected on his own journey, sharing how he spent 19 years navigating the business before finding his way back to success, unlike Quan, who pursued a different career before returning to acting.

Quan, who worked as a stunt choreographer and assistant director between acting roles, was visibly emotional during the event. He shared how moving it was to reconnect with his former castmates and hear Brolin’s speech. When asked about the possibility of a Goonies sequel, Quan expressed his love for the film and his excitement at the idea of revisiting his character and going on another adventure with his fellow cast members.
