U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, stated that President Donald Trump is dedicated to achieving peace and security through “realism and pragmatism.” She made these comments on Tuesday ahead of Trump’s scheduled conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While Gabbard did not specify any particular country or conflict, she emphasized that achieving peace requires a commitment to strengthening cultural and economic connections, which help reduce the chances of conflict escalation. Additionally, she stressed the importance of having the courage to engage with both allies and adversaries directly.
Gabbard’s remarks were made at the Raisina Dialogue conference in New Delhi during her visit to India. Her trip holds special significance as she was the first Hindu ever elected to Congress, representing Hawaii. In her current role, she oversees the work of more than a dozen intelligence agencies.
At the security and economics conference, Tulsi Gabbard highlighted that President Trump is steadfast in his dedication to securing peace through a strategy based on realism and pragmatism.
Trump is scheduled to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, marking a potential turning point in efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine and offering Trump a chance to further shift U.S. foreign policy.
In her address, Tulsi Gabbard emphasized the significant potential in strengthening the relationship between India and the U.S.
“I am confident that the partnership and friendship between our two countries will continue to flourish,” she stated.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump met last month in Washington, where they discussed reducing tariffs, addressing trade issues, and bolstering defense cooperation.
On Monday, Gabbard also met with Modi and India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Singh later shared on social media that they discussed various topics, including defense and information sharing, with the goal of further strengthening the India-U.S. partnership.
India plays a crucial role as a strategic partner for the U.S. and is viewed as key to Washington’s strategy to counter China in the Indo-Pacific region.
