Fresno State has hired Matt Entz, a former FCS championship-winning coach, to lead its football program. The announcement was made on Wednesday, revealing that Entz will take over from interim coach Tim Skipper, who stepped in after Jeff Tedford resigned in July due to health issues.

Entz will guide Fresno State through its transition from the Mountain West Conference to the Pac-12, with the Bulldogs set to join the Pac-12 in the 2026 season.

This past season, Entz served as the assistant head coach for defense and linebackers coach at Southern California, following a successful tenure as head coach at North Dakota State, where he led the team to multiple championships.

Athletic director Garrett Klassy praised Entz as a proven winner with a strong leadership record, emphasizing his ability to drive success both on and off the field.

Matt Entz achieved a 60-11 record over five years as head coach at North Dakota State, leading the Bison to FCS championships in 2019 and 2021. He was named FCS Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association in both of those seasons.

This season, Fresno State finished with a 6-6 record under interim coach Tim Skipper, securing bowl eligibility for the fourth consecutive year. The Bulldogs are now awaiting their postseason destination.
