Eric Dane, known for his roles in “Euphoria” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” has publicly shared that he has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also called Lou Gehrig’s disease. The 52-year-old actor opened up about his diagnosis in an interview, revealing that ALS is a progressive disease that affects nerve cells responsible for controlling muscles.
Despite the diagnosis, Dane expressed his gratitude for being able to continue working and is looking forward to returning to the set of “Euphoria” next week. He also requested privacy for his family during this time.
Dane, who is married to actress Rebecca Gayheart, has two daughters, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13. Although Gayheart filed for divorce in 2018, she later withdrew the petition earlier this year.
ALS slowly deteriorates nerve cells, affecting the ability to walk, talk, and breathe, with most individuals succumbing to the disease within three to five years of diagnosis. “Euphoria” is scheduled to resume production this month, and Dane’s publicist did not immediately respond to inquiries.
