Novak Djokovic is parting ways with coach Andy Murray just two weeks before the French Open, following a challenging start to the clay-court season.

Murray’s team confirmed the split on Tuesday, announcing that the two former world No. 1 players would no longer be working together. Murray expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Djokovic, thanking him and his team for their efforts over the past six months. He also wished Djokovic the best for the remainder of the season.

This decision comes after Djokovic suffered early losses in his past two tournaments, falling in his opening match at both Monte Carlo and Madrid, events held on clay courts.

In response, Djokovic shared a message on social media thanking Murray for his hard work, support, and fun during their six-month partnership, mentioning that he had enjoyed strengthening their friendship both on and off the court.

The two began working together ahead of the Australian Open, a partnership that initially surprised many. Following Murray’s retirement last year, Djokovic reached out to him with a coaching offer. In February, Djokovic revealed that Murray had agreed to stay on for an indefinite period, which included helping with the clay-court season. However, Djokovic has yet to secure a tournament win this year, after retiring from the Australian Open semifinals due to a hamstring injury and narrowly losing in the Miami final, leaving him just shy of his 100th career title.
