Dele Alli has announced that it’s the right time for him to “turn a new page” after parting ways with Everton. The former England midfielder has been a free agent since his contract with the club ended in June, although he continued training with them.

The 28-year-old, who spent six weeks in rehab last year to address childhood trauma, was seen attending Como’s 2-0 Serie A win over Roma on Sunday. Como’s head coach, Cesc Fabregas, has suggested that Dele could join their training sessions after Christmas.

In an Instagram post, Dele thanked Everton, expressing his gratitude for the support from the fans, staff, and players. He also mentioned that “2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities.”

Dele, who joined Everton from Tottenham in January 2022, made just one Premier League start and 12 substitute appearances during his time at Goodison Park. His last competitive match was in February 2023 while on loan at Turkish club Besiktas.

He acknowledged the difficulty of regaining match fitness, thanking the Everton staff for their efforts. However, he admitted that things didn’t work out as hoped and felt it was time to move on.

Dele arrived at Everton on the same day Frank Lampard was appointed as manager, with Lampard being replaced by Sean Dyche in January 2023. Dyche commented on Dele’s journey, noting the challenges he faced due to injuries. He expressed well wishes for Dele as he moves on to a new challenge.
