Stephen Curry will not play in the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, as coach Steve Kerr decided to give him a break for emotional and mental rest.

Kerr explained that Curry has been feeling mentally and emotionally fatigued, more so than physically tired, over the last few games. He added that while Curry is physically fine, the emotional exhaustion has affected his decision-making, causing him to feel a bit off.

Although Curry initially hesitated when the idea of resting came up after the Warriors’ 114-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday, he eventually agreed to sit out. Kerr emphasized the team’s deep understanding of Curry’s needs and noted that he has certainly earned a night off given his heavy minutes recently.

Curry scored 20 points on 6-of-21 shooting in the Warriors’ loss to the Nuggets, further suggesting that the two-time NBA MVP may be in need of a break.

In his last five games, Curry has been shooting just 37% from the field (32 of 86) and 32.2% from beyond the arc (19 of 59).

The defeat to Denver ended Golden State’s seven-game winning streak, although they’ve still managed to win 14 of their last 16 games.
