Costco has announced the recall of the drug ‘Kirkland Signature: Severe Cold and Flu Plus Congestion’ sold in its stores. This repayment was announced on January 2, 2025. The drug, which went on sale between October and November 2024, is suspected to contain foreign substances, so the refund is being done for safety reasons.
At Costco’s suggestion, New York-based LNK International has initiated a refund process for a specific lot code of the drug. LNK International is a private company that manufactures over-the-counter medicines. According to them, the drug with lot code P140082 was rejected due to the presence of foreign substances in the manufacturing process; but by mistake, it was sent for sale.

What is the refund for?
This medicine has been sold from October 30 to November 30, 2024. Consumers are urged not to use and return the medicine with this lot code. Concerned customers can return the medication to a local Costco store and receive a full refund.

Guidance to customers:
Customers are encouraged to contact LNK International at 1-800-426-9391 or via email at complaints-inquiries@Inkintl.com for any questions or complaints.

Previously, eggs were recalled due to food safety concerns:
Prior to this drug recall, on November 27, 2024, Costco recalled Kirkland Signature Organic Pasteur Raised Eggs. The Food and Drug Administration had said that there was a risk of salmonella in these eggs. Handsome Brook Farms of New York recalled more than 10,000 eggs sold at 25 Costco stores in five states.

Steps are being taken for the safety of customers:
Costco and LNK International have declared that customer safety is a priority and will take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

The refunds have been announced amid rising flu cases. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 5.3 million people have been infected with the flu this season and 63,000 have been hospitalized. Costco has advised consumers to stop using the drug immediately.
