Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan chat fame and friendship

Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan, despite their hectic schedules and multiple film projects, reunited on Wednesday in London for a conversation at the British Film Institute.

The two stars first worked together in Greta Gerwig’s 2017 film Lady Bird and later reunited for Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women. While their careers have led them in different directions, they’ve remained close friends and make time to reconnect every few years, as Ronan shared.

She expressed how fortunate they are that both of their careers are thriving and that their paths continue to cross. Ronan’s husband, Jack Lowden, was present in the audience to show his support.

Both Chalamet and Ronan have had busy years, with several films now in the running for awards recognition.

Timothée Chalamet stars as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown, set to release on Christmas Day, while Saoirse Ronan portrays a young woman battling alcoholism in The Outrun. In the film, Ronan’s character attempts to overcome her addiction by returning to her childhood home on the Orkney Islands in Scotland.

Timothée Chalamet also reprised his role as Paul Atreides in the highly anticipated sci-fi film Dune: Part Two, while Saoirse Ronan starred in Steve McQueen’s Blitz.

During their conversation, the audience watched scenes from their previous collaborations with Greta Gerwig. Chalamet humorously remarked that a Lady Bird scene was “a lot better than I remember it being.”

The discussion then turned to their perspectives on fame. Chalamet expressed that fame is “the most boring thing to talk about” in his life, while Ronan agreed, adding that she simply “pretends that all of that doesn’t exist.”
