Capital One customers are facing issues accessing their funds online due to a problem with a third-party vendor, sparking frustration and complaints on social media.
The bank issued a statement saying that a “technical issue” caused by the vendor has temporarily disrupted several services, including payment processing, deposits, and access to both consumer and business accounts.
Starting Thursday and continuing into Friday, many users reported problems on Downdetector, a site that tracks outages. Capital One’s support account on X (formerly Twitter) has been overwhelmed with complaints, some using strong language, from customers unable to pay bills or access their funds.
A spokesperson for Capital One stated that the bank is working with the vendor to resolve the issue and apologized to customers for the inconvenience. Users of the Capital One app are seeing a message that the app is “currently experiencing technical issues” and that efforts are underway to resolve the problem quickly.
The third-party vendor involved is FIS Global, a financial technology service provider used by Capital One and other major banks. FIS explained that a power outage caused the disruption and that they are working to finalize pending transactions that occurred while systems were offline, expecting most, if not all, issues to be resolved shortly.
