BT has confirmed that an issue preventing thousands of customers from accessing their emails on Saturday morning has now been resolved.

The outage, which began around 05:00 GMT, led to a surge of complaints, with more than 5,000 reports recorded on the Downdetector site.

By 14:00 on Saturday, BT issued an update stating the problem had been fixed and apologized to affected customers.

Other services, such as broadband, TV, and mobile packages, remained unaffected by the issue.

The outage appeared to be widespread across the country, with customers from locations ranging from Aberdeenshire and Dumfries in Scotland to Warwick, Norfolk, and Wakefield in England reporting issues on social media.

BT had previously stated that they were investigating the cause of the disruption and recommended that affected customers switch off their Wi-Fi and use mobile data to access their emails.

One user, Paul Hough, expressed frustration on X, asking, “Email is not working. What is the problem? When will it be fixed?”

Another customer reported receiving the message “BT Server Outage. Try again later” when attempting to log in to their BT email.

Some customers shared that they were able to regain access to their emails by switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
