The 47-year-old is set to step down from his position as head of the German Football Association’s (DFB) coaching development program to join Brighton in January, pending approval for a work permit.
Fabian Hurzeler, who became Brighton’s manager this summer, was previously coached by Niedzkowski.
Hurzeler expressed confidence in the move, stating, “He will be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff.”
David Weir, the club’s technical director, commented, “He’s someone I know well from Germany, and I’ve been eager to bring him to the club.”
Weir further emphasized that Niedzkowski’s experience with developing young talent would be invaluable. “He understands what it takes to bring the best out of young players and help them transition into first-team football, which is a key aspect of our club’s philosophy.”
In his new role, Niedzkowski will not only contribute to the development of players but will also oversee the broader coach education program. He will help design a structure that ensures the highest standards of coaching throughout the academy and across both the men’s and women’s teams.
Niedzkowski has previously worked as an assistant coach at Bayer Leverkusen and managed the Germany Under-21 national team.
