British tennis star Katie Boulter has shared the news of her engagement to Australian player Alex de Minaur, who is currently ranked world number nine. The couple, who have been dating for nearly five years after meeting on the tennis circuit, made the announcement via Instagram. Boulter, ranked 24th in the world, posted a photo of her engagement ring, captioning it with, “We’ve been keeping a small secret.”

Both players are set to compete in the upcoming United Cup in Sydney, where Great Britain will face Australia on January 1st. Boulter, 28, and De Minaur, 25, have both been named to their respective teams for the event.

In the United Cup, with each fixture featuring two singles matches and a mixed doubles tie, there is a chance that Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur could face off if they are both selected to play in the doubles.

Before announcing their engagement, Boulter commented on the possibility of competing against her fiancé. “I wouldn’t say I was thrilled at the idea of playing him again,” she said. “He’s a top-10 player and knows how to play, so there’s that aspect. Then there’s the personal side, which is tough but also great for bragging rights.”

Last year, the couple teamed up for mixed doubles at Wimbledon and made it to the second round.
